FACT: Populations eating a “Western diet” (a.k.a. Standard American Diet or SAD) suffer from higher rates of chronic diseases (“Western diseases”) such as cardiovascular disease, obesity, type 2 diabetes and cancer, four of the top 10 killers in America. A “Western diet” consist mainly of LOTS of meats, processed foods, added sugar and fat, and refined grains. In other words, lots of everything except fruits, vegetables and whole grains. In fact, virtually all the type 2 diabetes and obesity, 80 percent of the cardiovascular disease and more than a third of all cancers can be linked to this diet.
FACT: Populations eating a wide range of traditional diets (extremely different from each other) don’t suffer from these chronic diseases.
Call to Action:
We ALL know this, so we need to follow through like we know it! This rather new “Western diet” is the problem regardless of various reasons we hear and who gets blamed as the culprit (which food ingredient or industry).
The point is, people who stop eating the “Western diet” see amazing improvements in their health!
