Trans Fats and Heart DiseaseAccording to a review in the New England Journal of Medicine, trans fats increase the risk of heart disease more than any other food ingredient.  Trans fats have also been shown to increase the risk of developing Alzheimer’s, type 2 diabetes, gallstones and may even cause greater weight gain than other types of fats.

Call to Action:

The USDA recommends you limit your intake of trans-fats to no more than 1% of your total calories, which is approximately 2 grams per day.  This is less than the amount of trans-fat in one donut.
