Nutritional Value of LentilsBeans and lentils are superfoods because they are nutrient dense and have a high satiety factor.  They are higher in protein and fiber than any other vegetable. These legumes are slow-release carbs, making them one of the healthiest foods to include in your diet.

Beans are high in the nutrients folic acid (brain-building) and tryptophan (brain-relaxing) and a good source of B vitamins, calcium and minerals, especially magnesium and potassium (regulate blood pressure).  Lentils are the legumes with the most protein, fiber and folic acid.

Call to Action:

Go big on beans and lentils. They are great added to other foods, providing nutrition and taste, like hummus (garbanzo beans) and chili (kidney, pinto & black beans) and salads (kidney).  And a very economical, quick and satisfying meal is brown rice and lentils or beans – use a different one to add variety!

To your wellness,
