Tip: How Can You Reduce The Risk of Cancer

February is National Cancer Prevention month. Follow these guidelines to help reduce your risk of cancer.

According to the American Institute for Cancer Research approximately 1/3 of the 1.5 million cancers that occur every year in the U.S. could be prevented.  Three factors that you can control have a lot to do with your risk of developing this terrible disease.

Factors That Affect Your Cancer Risk:

1) How much you move, 2) How much you weigh, and 3) What you eat.

Call to Action:

  1. Be physically active every day for 30 minutes (walking, running, taking the stairs).
  2. Aim to be a healthy weight throughout life.
  3. Choose mostly plant foods, limit and/or avoid red meat, and completely avoid processed meat.
