Buying organic produce will help you avoid ingesting pesticides. Thin-skinned fruits and vegetables have higher levels of pesticides in them.
The Environmental Working Group publishes an annual listing of the most common fruits and vegetables with the highest and least concentration of pesticides. The twelve worst are referred to as the “dirty dozen.”
Call to Action:
The “Dirty Dozen” consists of these fruits and vegetables with the worst listed first:
- Blueberries (Domestic)
- Sweet bell peppers
- Kale / Collard greens
- Grapes (Imported)
When purchasing these fruits and vegetables, buy only those grown organically to reduce pesticide ingestion. This is even more critical for children.
