These whole grain measurements will help you know how much grain to flake based on how much flaked/rolled oats or other flaked/rolled grain is called for in a recipe.
I use a flaker attachment on my Family Grain Mill to flake or roll oat groats to make fresh rolled oats for oatmeal or to use in baked goods. This allows you to prepare the exact amount you need at the time.
When grain is ground or flaked within 72 hours it has lost 90% of the nutritional value because of the oxidization process. Just think about the cartons of rolled oats sitting on shelves, which once opened aren’t really air tight. Now, how good are they really for you? 😥
