Correction:  On the video, to grind flax seed I said to use a coffee “maker” and meant to say coffee “grinder.” ~ Lynn

Ingredients:

I use the smaller amount of the ingredients when making 2/3’s blender and the full amount for a full blender.

2 – 3 ripe bananas, depending on size, frozen in chunks

1/3 – 1/2 cup ground flax seeds*

1 – 1-1/2 scoops Juice Plus+ chocolate Complete (soy-based protein powder)

2 – 4 tsp. brewer’s yeast powder (found at Health Food Store), optional

1 – 2 Tbsp. psyllium whole husks (found at Health Food Store)

1-1/2 cups plant-based milk** (almond, rice, oat, or soy) (may want to use a chocolate version)

Ice cubes

Preparation:

In a blender, add ingredients in this order:

Half of the bananas (broken up into 1- 2 inch sections)
Dry ingredients: flax seed, JP+ Complete, brewers yeast, and psyllium husks
Remaining banana chunks
Add milk last not quite covering the bananas at the top.

Blend very well on high speed for a minute, until well combined.

Add ice cubes for desired consistency. The more you add the thicker the smoothie.

Serve in large glasses.

As a topping we add homemade granola or sometimes organic shredded coconut.

Note:

*If you don’t have a designated coffee grinder then put the flax seed in the blender first to grind.

**If you make your own plant-based milk add the ground up grains left from that process to your smoothie.  I include about 1/2 cup of this mixture with the other ingredients when available.
