We live in a quick fix, microwave society and we like things fixed fast. We want solutions to our problems now!
This is why women’s magazine covers always contain fast answers to the troubles that many women face.
“Diet Busters: Lose Ten Pounds in Ten Days”
You won’t find overnight, quick weight loss solutions here, but if you begin to implement small steps and develop healthy habits overtime you will accomplish the results you are seeking, which will be long-term and permanent results. After all you don’t want to be reinventing the wheel at the beginning of every year, do you?
You don’t gain 20, 45, 75 pounds in a few days or even weeks. You do this over a longer period of time, months and years. Do you notice how it just sort of sneaks up on you?
So, therefore when you decide to loose the extra weight why do you believe these quick weight loss solutions and plans? Deep down you don’t, but disappointment and frustration in yourself sets in, which can cause you to feel desperate.
These quick fix strategies are not long term solutions – solutions that will give us the lasting results we so desire and desperately want.
This is why so many who try these approaches and who lose weight initially, some even a lot, generally end up gaining all the weight back and more. It becomes a constant battle in their life.
Hopefully most of you realize that fad diets and quick results are just a selling point to get you to try a new weight loss product, purchase a magazine based on an enticing headline on the cover, or buy the latest “fad diet” book.
Here is a quote I just read from Jim Rohn about FADS:
“There are no new fundamentals. Be suspicious of someone who says, ‘I’ve got a new fundamental.’ That’s like someone inviting you to tour a factory where they are manufacturing antiques.”
In order to loose extra weight and keep it off it all starts with making a decision and a commitment to follow through on that decision.
The definition of Commitment in the Webster’s dictionary is “a pledge or promise to do something; dedication to a long-term course of action.”
This commitment must be made first and foremost to yourself. Do you really want to loose the extra weight and keep it off? If you answer honestly to that question and your answer is a resounding YES then say OUT LOUD right now “I am committed to loosing my extra weight and will do all I can (with God’s help) to make this a reality.” (You don’t have to say this to anyone, but yourself, at this time.)
Yes! That was the first step and one that is absolutely necessary to get the lasting result you really want. Now that you’ve made a commitment to yourself what will be your next small step to achieve your desired result?
To your health and wellness,
p.s. We’ll discuss more on the subject of discipline and mindset. I struggle with keeping my mind focused on what I can do rather than what’s not working right. This is key to our success!
I want to conclude by sharing another quote of Jim Rohn’s on SELF-DETERMINATION:
“You cannot change your destination overnight. But you can change your direction overnight.”
